Runner Information

Here is some essential information for you ahead of the race. Please take a few minutes to read this information carefully.

Arrival & Parking:
Our event takes place at 9.30am on Sunday 2nd June 2024 at Marden Sports Club (formerly known as Marden Cricket and Hockey Club), 319 Maidstone Road, Marden, Kent, TN12 9AG.

Important! There is one access road in and out of the club. The start of the race takes place on the driveway of the club, and must therefore close to vehicles at 9.15am. If you are arriving by car, please ensure you are on site before this time, otherwise you will not be permitted entry. If you arrive after 9.15am, you will not be able to access the site and will miss the start of the race.

We have plenty of car parking available, but to minimise the impact on the environment and local residents, please carshare where possible.

The car park will be open from 8am - please do not arrive before this time.

We highly recommend you arrive between 8am and 8.30am, in order to give yourself time to collect your race pack at Race HQ, and to use the toilet before the race starts. The race will start at 9.30am prompt.

Registration / Race pack collection:
Registration is open from 8am. Your race pack contains a timing chip (this is to be secured around your ankle using the velcro strap provided), number bib and safety pins. If you registered before 12th May and requested a t-shirt, your bib will have a sticker indicating your t-shirt size. T-shirts can be collected after the event at the clubhouse.

Race Start:
Runners will be called to the start line at 9.20am for a pre-run briefing. The race will start at 9.30am. Please do not congregate at the start line until called to do so.

Race Route:
The Russet Runners Marden 10k is an accurately measured course, and holds a licence from Run Britain and England Athletics. The route is predominantly flat, using country lanes in and around the village. The first 2.5km of the route will be closed to the majority of road traffic using Temporary Obstruction notices. Thereafter, you will be running on open roads, and should keep left at all times. The course is fully marshalled by volunteers.

Headphones:
As we are a UK Athletics licensed event, to comply with UKA Rule 240 S5, the use of all in-ear or over-ear headphones, audio devices and/or mobile phones with headphones is prohibited. This includes any noise-cancelling earbuds. You will be disqualified from the race if seen using headphones on the course. The only exception to this rule is bone conductor headphones that do not go in or cover the ear, which are allowed under England Athletics rules.

If you have medically prescribed hearing aids, please let the race team know.

Water:
There are two water stations, one just beyond the 5km mark, and the other at the finish line. In order to minimise our impact on the environment, please drop your bottle in the designated drop zone and it will be recycled.

After the race:
For those who ordered a t-shirt before 12th May, your t-shirt will be available to collect from the club bar.

We would highly encourage you to plan to stay for some refreshments after the race! We will have hot and cold drinks, pastries, ice cream, breakfast items such as bacon and sausage baps available for purchase.

The driveway will be exit only for vehicles once the first runners are home, so you will be able to leave when you need to.

Thank you to Marden Sports Club for hosting this event for our running community and to our sponsor Kayo Digital

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 2nd June in beautiful Marden.
